Amrita Arora, an established actress has set an image of “a next new face girl” which fits very well in Indian romantic films. She was born on January 31st, 1981, the same day Priety Zinta was born, in Mumbai, India and brought up in a family with Maharashtrian customs. Her mother, Joyce Polycarp was a Malyali Christian and father Anil Arora a Punjabi. Right from the beginning, Amrita followed the footsteps of Malaika Arora Khan, her endearing sister who is also an established model and actor.
Getting passed from Chembur’s Swami Vivekananda High School, she graduated in Psychology from the Sophia College in Mumbai and then started modeling. Later she got a chance to be a video jockey.
Amrita Arora started her career on the short screen by winning the MTV VJ hunt, organized by youth television provider MTV India. There she was presented to host TV shows like MTV Chillout and MTV House Full for two years, which became very popular and helped in establishing her identity by upheaving amazing potential she had got. She appeared in many advertisements in different national as well as international brands such as Ponds, Sunsilk Fruitamins and Elle 18. She eventually married her boyfriend Shakeel Ahmed in 2009. This wedding was of its kind as it was a mix of different religion’s marriage ceremonies; Christian wedding, Mehendi and Muslim Nikaah in subsequent days. Many celebrities attended the innocuous celeb-studded wedding. She gave birth to son Azaan in 2010 and despite her being pregnant, she did not miss the wedding of her fast friend Kareena Kapoor. She recently became a mother of a healthy and cute child named Rayaan.
Amrita appeared last in Raakh (2010) but she is now again active in Bollywood and her forthcoming movie is Saeed Akhtar Mirza directed “Ek Tho Chance”, an erotic thriller which revolves around the life of commuters of Mumbai Train.
